All in all, good times were had...

Things could be better, and of course, they could be worse.

Spouse helped our autistic eldest, our son, to give me the cd-clock-radio I expressly told him I wanted for Christmas. Spouse chose a 'nature sounds' cd, too. Used it this am to wake for work.

Nicest wake up I've had in a while.

Beats the barking dog, the splitting headache, the yelling kid...

I wish someone would invent an alarm clock that worked like this:

(gently, cheerfully) "[Ding!] Time to wake up now!"

One minute later: repeat.

One minute later:
(with authority) "[AhhhhOOOOOOOgaaaa!] On your feet, maggot! Unass that bed right the [deleted] now, or I will rip off your [deleted] head and [deleted] down your [deleted, deleted, REALLY deleted] neck!"

Repeat as necessary, although I don't think more than once will be necessary.

I was thinking of Julia Roberts for the first voice and R. Lee Ermey (the drill sergeant in 'Full Metal Jacket') for the second.

That thing would end up run over in my driveway. Of course, it would have worked if I made it all the way out there...

But that'd get to be expensive after a while, if you needed to buy a new alarm clock every day...
